Mac statistics software notes

Wizard is now featured at the Mac App Store.

Wizard is the latest in a number of new Mac statistics programs that have brought back some of the flavor of the exciting 1990s, when SPSS brought mainframe power to the Mac, JMP revolutionized exploratory graphics, MacANOVA made analysis fast and easy, and CricketGraph had fast, easy graphing (with near-instant polynomial curve fitting) — all running at 8 MHz on a 4-meg Mac Plus.

Now, we’re seeing a steady influx of new software from small developers (as well as JMP, Stata, and SPSS), and the PSPP “SPSS clone” project ever so slowly coming along to bring SPSS to those without unlimited budgets.
